Jackie Minten, 91, of Alton died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Orange City Area Health Systems Hospital in Orange City, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, with the Reverend Terry Roder and Reverend James Tigges officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Alton. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Monday, with a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, Iowa. Condolences may be sent online to www.fischfh.com.

Jacoba Ann "Jackie" was born November 16, 1922, at Orange City, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Timmer) Den Hartog. She was raised and educated in Orange City. She attended Orange City Christian School and Orange City Public School, graduating in 1940.

On November 28, 1940, she married Robert Minten at Sioux City, Iowa. The couple then made their home in Alton. In 1948, they moved to a farm south of Alton. They moved back into Alton in 1972 and continued farming for several years. Robert died December 7, 2001.

Jackie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Rosary Society, American Legion Auxiliary and Wednesday night bible study group. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. During her life she was an avid bowler and golfer. She loved to read and work in the library. She was a very talented artist and loved to do arts and crafts of all kinds. Her goal in life was always to help other people. She was a very special person and will be very deeply missed.

Survivors include her two sons, Darrell (Marilyn) Minten of Reno, Nevada, and Ron (Joann) Minten of Alton; five daughters, Sherron (Richard) Kriege of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Bev (Larry) Hanno of Le Mars, Iowa, Marilyn Nunn of Alton, Barb (Mark) Noteboom of Orange City, and Dawn (Dave) Welch of North Sioux City, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; and all of her in-laws.

Pallbearers will be Eric Hanno, Michael Kriege, Robert Kriege, Matthew Minten, Travis Noteboom, Schuyler Noteboom, Robert Nunn and Dustin Nunn. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and Jackie's Wednesday night bible study group.
