FORMER ALTON PIONEER PASSES.

Elizabeth Minten, nee Brill, wife of the deceased Henry Minten passed away suddenly Saturday morning, July 16th, at her home in St. Paul at the age of 67 years.

Deceased was born at Fussville, Wisconsin, September, 1859, where she grew to womanhood, and was married in 1880 to Henry W. Minten. To this union seven children were born, one son and two daughters dying in infancy; the surviving children are Esther, Clara, Mayme and Julianna who were present at the funeral. Besides the children, she has two brothers and two sisters surviving.

After their marriage they farmed in Wisconsin till 1887 when they moved to Iowa, where they farmed near Alton for two years and then sold the farm and purchased the Alton Hardware Store where he was in business for seven years, when he was compelled to retire on account of ill health, passing away a year later. A year after his death the family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where they have resided until her death Saturday morning.

After the funeral services at Saint Paul, her remains were brought to Alton for burial Tuesday, accompanied by her four daughters and her sister, Mrs. Theo. Hennes and her niece, Mrs. John Hennes. Burial took place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Very Reverend F. J. Brene having charge of the services at the grave.

Others present at the funeral from out of town were Mrs. List and Christina Marx of Granville and Mr. and Mrs. P. O. McWilliams of Cherokee.
