John B. McDonald of Le Mars, son the late Hugh McDonald and Mrs. McDonald of Maurice, passed on suddenly Monday at 1:30 P.M. at the Hawkeye Hotel in Orange City, following an attack of Cardiac embolism. Mr. McDonald, although quite crippled from rheumatism for some time was apparently in his usual health until a few minutes before his death.

John Bernard McDonald was born August 20, 1888, 2 1/2 miles south of Maurice. He grew to manhood there and spent some years on a homestead in Wyoming. He was a World War veteran and served several months in France. On May 17, 1928 he was united in marriage with Miss Gertrude A. Walsh of Le Mars. They resided in Wyoming for some time and in September 1929 returned to Le Mars where they have since resided, Mr. McDonald having been in the insurance business.

Besides his wife he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Kathryn McDonald of Maurice; three brothers, Joe of Hot Springs, South Dakota;Francis of Glendale, California; William and one sister, Margaret both of Maurice. Another brother, James R. passed on very suddenly February 1 of this year. His father, Hugh McDonald, died in 1925. The many friends of this fine family deeply regret the untimely passing of the second son and brother within the space of a few months.
