From the Boyden Reporter, March 7, 1929:

MRS. WILLIAM HARNACK

Mrs. William Harnack, who had been ill with diabetes for some time, died at her home three and one-half miles west of Sheldon on Sunday, March third. Mrs. Harnack had been confined to her bed for the past three weeks and was partially blind at the time of her death.

Jeane Livingston was born April 14, 1869, in Glasgow, Scotland, and died in Sheldon, Iowa, at the age of 59 years, 10 months and 17 days. She came to the United States when fourteen years of age, and lived in this community for the past thirty-five years. The first years her home was made with the Howe family on Sunnyside farm, east of Sheldon.

She was united in marriage March 10, 1893, to Wm. Harnack and had since made her home here. She leaves to mourn their loss, the husband, two daughters, one being Mrs. Rensink of this vicinity; one son, George, and five grandchildren; also one sister and one brother, still making their home in Scotland.

Funeral services were held at the home at two o’clock Tuesday afternoon with Rev. A. A. Stewart of the Boyden Presbyterian church officiating, and music was furnished by the Boyden church choir. Burial was made in Eastlawn Cemetery at Sheldon.

From the Alton Democrat, March 8, 1929, Sheldon news:

Mrs. Ira Durger and three children arrived here from Rockford, Ill., several days ago having been called here by the death of the lady’s mother, Mrs. Will Harnack of near Sheldon.

Her death certificate has Jeane Livingston Harnack, wife of William Harnack; born April 14, 1869 in Scotland; father’s surname Smith [no forename], mother’s name Elizabeth [no maiden name]; resident of the U.S. 46 years and of Grant Township 35 years; died in Grant Township, Sioux County, at 1:10 p.m. March 3, 1929; cause, hepatic hypertrophic cirrhosis, diabetes.
