MRS. JENNIE ABBEY DIES AT AGE 87

Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Abbey, 87, longtime Hawarden resident, who died Sunday night at the Panska Nursing Home where she had been a patient since June, were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Associated Church, Reverend William S. Sebring officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Abbey had been in failing health for some time and was bed fast for about two years.

Jennie was born to Henry and Cordelia (Hutchinson) Woodward on November 11, 1870 at Manchester, Iowa in Delaware County, Jennie Woodward married John Abbey January 25, 1894. The couple lived at Manchester until 1902 when they retired on an acreage south of Hawarden. There they resided until his death in 1920.

Mrs. Abbey was a member of the Associated Church, Rebeka Lodge, the American Legion Auxiliary and Mothers Club.

She is survived by one son, Dale, of Hawarden, an only child; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
