J. J. Van Otterloo dies in California

John J. Van Otterloo, 63, died Thursday in Bellflower, Calif, after a few months illness. He was born and grew up in Rock Valley and moved to California a number of years ago.

Among the survivors are his wife the former Dora Brower, six sons and two daughters.

Funeral services and burial were held Monday afternoon Nov. 9. Those from here who went for the services were his son, Richard, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Van Voorst and Mrs. John Brower. Mr Van Otterloo is also survived by a number of brothers and sisters.

Mr. Van Otterloo was born Feb. 1, 1901 in Rock Valley and lived here most of his life. Mr. Van Otterloo was married to the former Dora Brouwer Feb. 7, 1924 and is survived by his wife, six sons and two daughters. Richard of Rock Valley, John, Melvin, Gerald, Harold and Alvin, Grace, Mrs. Junior Brands, Evelyn, Mrs. Willis Pollema, all of California. Also five brothers and four sisters, Herman of Hull, Henry of Lake Wilson, Minn., Peter of Rock Rapids and Leonard of Hospers, Jennie, Tena and Agnes of Grand Rapids, Mich., Alice, Mrs. Martin Veldkamp, Beverdam, Wisc. One daughter, his parents, two brothers preceded him in death.
