Henry P. Lutjens, 53 Years
Old, Died Thursday Night

H. P. Lutjens, whose illness was mentioned last week in The Index, died at his home northeast of Hull, last Thursday evening, between eleven and twelve o'clock. Mr. Lutjens had always been identified with all public matters and was a hard worker; his place will be hard to fill.

Henry Paul Lutjens, the third of six children in the family of Fred D. and Margareta (Funck) Lutjens, was born at Hull, Iowa, on October 2, 1888. He was baptized in early infancy into the name of the Tribune God. After the customary training in the Church school and confirmation reading, he was confirmed with the class of 1897 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Grown to manhood and desirous of establishing a home and family of his own, he took to wife Miss Katharine Augusta Schroeder on October 11, 1905. This happy union was blessed with two children: Fred H. Lutjens of Beresford, South Dakota, and Mrs. Marie E. Faber of Hull.

The entire life of Mr. Lutjens was spent on the place of his birth. His ailment, first noticeable about seven years ago, took on a more serious nature about a year ago. From that time on he has suffered possibly more than was suspected. During all this time all humanly possible was done for him, but to no avail. He died Thursday evening, February 4th, 1937 at the age of 53 years, 4 months and 2 days.

He leaves to mourn his early departure his devoted wife, his son Fred, his daughter Mrs. Marie Faber, four grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Among the closer relatives are his brother Claus Lutjens of this place, and his sisters: Mrs. Mary Hammann of Gary, South Dakota; Mrs. Kate Jantzen of Hull; and Mrs. Peter Kruse of Boyden.

His body was laid to rest in St. Paul's Cemetery, Reverend A. F. Zenk, pastor of the local church, officiating, on Monday, February 8th, 1937.

The pall-bearers were Rudy, Fred and Henry Jantzen, Elmer Kruse, Elmer Riebeling and Laurence Tjedemann.
