Arthur Paul Lutjens Laid To Rest Sunday, October 18th, 1942

Arthur P. Lutjens, passed away Friday, October 16 in a hospital at Des Moines, Iowa, after submitting to an operation for hernia. He had attained the age of thirty-eight years, six months, and nine days.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Henry Tiedemann home and from St. Paul's Church, with interment in St. Paul's Cemetery.

The sincere sympathy of a host of friends and The Index is extended to the bereaved relatives.

Arthur Paul Lutjens Obituary

Youngest son in the circle of children in the Henry Lutjens family was born on April 5, 1904. When he was a child the family moved from the farm to Hull so that he had the advantage of better schooling facilities. He graduated from the Public High School entered upon further educational pursuit at Iowa City and graduated in 1927.
Entering upon an active business career. He managed stores for Kresge & Penneys. Of late he was engaged in the restaurant business together with, his brother Louis.

He was married to Miss Elsie MacGuire on June 30, 1929. Recently he submitted to an operation in the interest of keeping his commission in the U. S. Armed Forces intending upon entering active duty as soon as restored.

His life came to an abrupt close when he answered the call on October 16th, at the age of 38 years, 6 months, 9 days. He leaves his devoted wife Elise, his mother, Mrs. Reka Lutjens, one sister, Carrie, Mrs. H. Tiedeman, 4 brothers, Herman of California, William of Hull, Louis of Des Moines, and Otto of Omaha.

Funeral services were held Sunday at St Paul Lutheran Church in charge of Reverend Zent. Pallbearers were, Alfred, Lawrence, William Tiedean, Fred, Edwin and Wallace Lutjens. Interment was made in St. Paul Cemetery.
