From the Rock Valley Bee, March 2, 1928:

Mrs. A. Thomas Passed Away

Message was received from Santa Ana, California, Monday, announcing the passing away that forenoon of Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas. She had reached the age of eighty-four and had been gradually losing strength for the past year though her mind and faculties were perfectly normal. Her son Will Thomas who lives in Santa Ana, California and the two daughters, Mrs. C. W. Jacobs and Mrs. Alice Long, and son Robert, of Rock Valley, were caring for the mother for the past few months.

Mrs. Thomas came to Grant County, Wisconsin, from Cornwall, England, when a child and moved with her husband and family to Hull, Ia., in 1888 and a few years later to Rock Valley, where she and Mr. Thomas resided until their departure for the new California home some ten years ago.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Thomas four years ago. The burial was at Santa Ana, where Mr. Thomas is buried. A sister, Mrs. J. T. Lickel and two granddaughters live at Hollywood. The son James Thomas and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren are living in and around Rock Valley.

Grandma Thomas possessed an exceptionally sweet character. The whole community wherever she lived admired her and loved her. A wife, a mother, a woman whom the whole world could emulate with pride and inspiration.
