From the Hospers Tribune, February 17, 1928, Boyden news:

Dietrick Helck, 22, died in the hospital at Sibley following an operation for adhesions. His parents live in Germany and he made his home with his uncle Dietrick Lafreuz. Funeral services were held in the German Lutheran Church.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Helck, Dietrich, b. 6 Feb 1905, d. 4 Feb 1928, St. Johns Luth Cem Boyden IA.

His death certificate has Dietrich Helck, born February 6, 1905 in Germany, residence Wheeler Township, Lyon County, died in the Osceola Hospital at Sibley; parents Klaus Helck and Christina Hinch; occupation, farmer. The informant is Deitrich [Dietrich] La Franz, George, Iowa. Died at 11:10 a.m. February 4, 1928 of obstruction of bowels from adhesions, duration 8 days; contributory cause, peritonitis; preceded by an operation on June 30, 1928.

He appears in the 1925 Iowa state census for Wheeler Township as a 19-year-old laborer, born in Germany, resident of the U.S. and Iowa for two years, parents Claus Helck and Christina Hensch; living with C. L. H. Vogts and William Vogts and their families.

The parish register for St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boyden shows him as born in Schuppenfeld, Hannover, Deutschland [Germany].
