Mrs. Henry Luchtenburg Died Suddenly Of Heart Attack

Mrs. Henry Luchtenburg died Saturday, May 31, 1952, at the Grossmann Hospital of a heart attack. Mrs. Luchtenburg nee (Geraldine Blanche "Carrie" Van Wechel) was born on a farm Southwest of Orange City on March 3, 1880.

On March 1, 1900, she was united in marriage to Henry Leonard Luchtenburg. Her husband preceded her in death on October 6, 1945, after which she made her home with some of the children.

Eight children were born to this union, all surviving. They are: Adolph of Ashton, Iowa; Christina (Mrs. Bernard Vander Aarde) of Orange City; John of Edgerton, Minnesota; Diana (Mrs. Cornie Verdoorn) of Ashton, Iowa; Leonard of Dundee, Minnesota; and Willmina (Mrs. Herman Fedders), Blanche (Mrs. John Zevenbergen), and Ellen (Mrs. Robert Bonnecroy) all of Orange City.

Also surviving are an adopted daughter, Mrs. Jessie Blake of Hawaii, twenty-two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren and one full brother, Allen Van Wechel, and two half sisters, Mrs. C. Neal Dykstra, and Mrs. John Workhoven, and one half brother, Arend Van Wechel, all of Orange City.

Three half brothers and four half sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 4, 1952, at the First Reformed Church with Dr. H. Colenbrander officiating. Burial was at the local cemetery with A.D. Van Etten in charge of arrangements.
