Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 3 at 10 a.m. at the First Reformed Church in Slayton, Minnesota, for Leonard Henry Luchtenburg.

He passsed away unexpectedly at his farm home on March 30. He was 69 years old.

Reverend Gary Dekker and Reverend Albert Hertle, officiated. Interment was at Westlawn Cemetery, Orange City.

Mr. Luchtenburg was born May 3, 1914 in Sioux County to Henry and Geraldine Van Wechel Luchtenburg. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school near Orange City.

On February 22, 1938, he married Nancy Van Roekel at Orange City. They lived on a farm near Orange City until 1941 when they moved to a farm near Ashton, then in 1950 they bought a farm near Dundee, Minnesota, and resided there since.

Mr. Luchtenburg was a member of the Reformed Church and belonged to the First Reformed Church at Slayton since 1950. He was also a member of the Grace Gospel Fellowship Camp Board for many years. He enjoyed fishing, but farming always was his life and he always enjoyed it.

Survivors include his wife Nancy of rural Dundee, Minnesota, four daughters; Carol, Mrs. Dwight Johnson of Willmar, Minnesota, Harriet, Mrs. Melvin Moret of Worthington, Minnesota, Norma, Mrs. Aaron Vano of Marysville, Washington, and Judy, Mrs. George Liljegren of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; one brother, John of Leota, Minnesota; six sisters, Mrs. Jesse Blake of Hawaii, Mrs. Christina Vande Aarde of Orange City, Diane, Mrs. Cornie VerDoorn of Ashton, Wilmina, Mrs. Herman Fedders of Orange City, Blanche, Mrs. John Zevenbergen of Baldwin, Wisconsin, and Ellen, Mrs. Robert Bonnecroy of Orange City; also 14 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Peter Adolph.
