Former Resident Passed Away

Sarah Louise Robley, daughter of Iver and Sarah Robley, was born July 18, 1961, at Rock Island, Ill., and when ten years old moved with her parents on a farm one and one-half miles west of Calamus, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood.

On November 24, 1881 she married Albert J. Davisson, a young farmer living south of Wheatland, Iowa, and after two or three years spent in farming near Wheatland and Big Rock, Iowa, the young couple moved to Ainsworth, Neb., where they spent several years on a farm, later moving to Hooper, Neb., engaging in the hardware business, later selling out their hardware business and moved to Canton, S.D., and again resumed farming. After several years spent near Canton, the family moved to Rock Valley, Iowa, where Mr. Davisson again went into the hardware business.

Mr. Davisson died at Rock Valley April 7th, 1901. Of this union six children were born, four boys and two girls: Ernest, a Lieutenant in the Regular Army, George of Sheboygan, Wis., William H. and Leslie E. of Rock Valley, Mrs. Lillian Kessler, of Okaton, S.D., and Mrs. Bertha L. Stewart, of Rock Rapids.

On June 5th, 1927[?], she was married to E. T. Erickson, Freight Agent of the C. & N.W. Ry [Chicago & Northwestern Railway], Mason City, Iowa, and resided at 938 North Van Buren Ave., Mason City, Iowa.

On December 30th 1927 she was stricken with heart failure from which she was unable to rally and passed quietly to her eternal home at high noon January 7th, surrounded by all her children, excepting George and Ernest, and one grandchild, Miss Viva Stewart.

Mrs. Erickson leaves, besides her children, 15 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three step children and her husband, one sister Mrs. Anna Thorn, of Canton, S.D., and one brother Henry Robley of Calamus, Iowa, and several nephews and nieces also survive.

The funeral was held at 2:30 P.M. Monday January 9th, from the Bonner Funeral Parlors, at Mason City, conducted by Rev. A. C. Stowe, pastor of the Christian Church, at Mason City, interment being made in Elmwood Cemetery in the family lot.

Relatives besides the children above from a distance attending Mrs. Erickson’s funeral were Mr. Howard Kessler, Okaton, S.D., Mrs. Leone Copp, Calamus, Iowa, Mrs. Anna Thorn and Mrs. Freda Brown, of Canton, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Walter Thada and daughter Jeane of Goodell, Iowa, and Mrs. Florence Davisson of Rock Valley, Iowa.

Her death certificate gives her husband’s name as Eric T. Erickson, and her parents as both born in Norway.
