DEATH OF MRS. NICK VAN BEEK

Mrs. Nick Van Beek, whose home is nine miles northwest of Rock Valley, passed away at a hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich., where she had been for treatment for the past year and a half, at about twelve o’clock Saturday night. The remains were brought to Rock Valley for funeral services and burial, arriving here Tuesday, and the funeral services were held at the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Van Beek was born in Holland and had attained the age of 40 years, three months and twenty-eight days. Her early life was spent in her native land where she grew to womanhood. She came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Snook [i.e., Snoek], to Rock Valley and lived in this vicinity most of the time since.

She was united in marriage to Nick Van Beek in 1906. Eight children were born to this union, all of whom are living at the home with their father. Besides her husband and children, she leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Snook, of Rock Valley, two brothers, Herman Snook of Sioux City, and Bud Snook, who lives in Minnesota, and three sisters, Mrs. Walter Groeneweg, of near Rock Valley, Mrs. Jake Frankin and Mrs. Dave Yepma, of Sioux City.

The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of a number of friends in their sorrow.

It lists three of her children: Evadina Gertrude Van Beek Tilstra (1911-2005), Katherine Van Beek Tolsma (1912-2002), and Crisena Van Beek Tilstra (1918-2002).
