From the Alton Democrat, March 2, 1928:

CHRIS MINTEN

Chris Minten, formerly of Alton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18th, at Milwaukee, Wis. He was born July 15th, 1862 at Fussville, Wis. In the spring of 1887 his parents moved to Minnesota, where they resided until they came to Alton. Here he was employed at the Alton mill for several years, later becoming associated with Jos. Hildesheim in the livestock business. He was a member of the Alton baseball team in those early days.

The deceased was married June 25, 1894 to Christina Hildesheim. To this union two children were born, Vincent and Marie. On April 20th, 1901, his wife passed away. In the fall of 1904 he moved with the children to Milwaukee where he resided until his death. He was married there to Miss Helen Rueming. He continued active in the roofing business until a few years ago when he retired on account of ill health.

The funeral services were held in St. Michael’s church, Milwaykee, with burial in Holy Cross cemetery. Many friends and relatives attended the service, including Mr. and Mrs. Math Minten of Alton.

Mr. Minten is survived by his wife Helen, daughter Marie, sister, Margaret Hildesheim of Spokane, Washington, and brothers, Barney of Oregon; John and Math, Alton; Jake, Los Angeles; Frank, Milwaukee.
