From the Sioux County Index (Hull), September 30, 1927:

CLAYTON LEWIS DROOG

The sad news that little Clayton Lewis Droog. son of Mr. and Mrs. John Droog, had accidentally fallen from a fence while playing with his little friends, last Friday morning and was in a serious condition spread rapidly about town.

Clayton fell on his head on a cement side walk and ran screaming to his home a couple of blocks away where he collapsed and from that time until he had passed away at five o’clock in the afternoon, there was but little hope for him. He was taken to the Hospital where preparations were made for an operation but it was of no avail, blood clots had formed causing concussion of the brain.

Clayton was a bright, active boy very well liked by all who knew him and a favorite with his little friends. He was born April 10th, 1923, and was four years, five months and thirteen days old. Besides his grief-stricken parents, he is survived by two brothers, Chester John, aged five years and nine months and Vernon Leonard, aged two years and nine months.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the home and from the First Ref. church, Rev. Douwstra officiating, all the stores in Hull being closed during the funeral services. The Index joins in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
