Ben Hyink, who was stricken with the same dreaded disease, the flu, which developed into pneumonia and caused his death on Saturday morning, March 15 at 4:45 A.M. Two weeks ago last Tuesday, Ben left for a two weeks vacation at Milwaukee, Wisconsin but a few days after he got there he did not feel well but not thinking serious about it. Ben tried to visit with relatives in spite of the fact that he was not well but before his second week was over Ben came home. Doctor Galman was called and pronounced it pneumonia following the flu. Nurse Mrs. North was once summoned to help Mrs. Hyink to care for him but all that loving hands and medical aid could do were not sufficient to stay the disease and Ben was called to his Eternal Home early Saturday morning.

Ben was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John S. and Trientje (Tillema) Hyink and was 24 years old at the time of his death. He was always jovial and happy, had a pleasant word and smile for everyone, he knew. Ben was for a long time a member of the choir of the First Reformed Church and was employed at the C.P. DeJong Hardware store up to the time of his death.

He leaves besides his father and mother and only brother, Cornelius, a large concourse of relatives and friends to mourn his death.

Funeral services were held from the house by Reverend George Dowstra.

Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Wilkens attended the funeral of their nephew Benjamin Hyink, held on Monday at Hospers.
