Mrs. Bernice E. Buysman, 79, of Sheldon, Died Tuesday, October 19, 1993 at a hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Graveside services were held at 10:15 A.M. Saturday, October 23 at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon. A memorial service was held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon. The Reverend Kenneth Tenckinck officiated. Arrangements were made by the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home, in Sheldon.

Mrs. Buysman was born March 13, 1914 in Gibbsville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Reverend John and Elizabeth (Vis) Straks. She graduated from Maurice High School in 1932 and attended Northwestern College in Orange City and Central College in Pella. On July 7, 1937 she married Clarence Kuiken in Paullina. In 1947 they moved from Maurice to Sheldon. He preceded her in death. On June 14, 1974 she married John Buysman Jr. They made their home in Sheldon. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Buysman was a charter member and organist at Bethel Reformed Church for many years.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Jan and Keith Rolston of Sheldon; a son and his wife, Don and Elizabeth Kuiken of Edmondton, Alberta, Canada; an adopted son and his wife, Harold and Carolyn Smit of Sheldon; a stepson and his wife, John and Patricia Buysman of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eunice and her husband Cornelius De Jong of Aurora, Colorado, and Mildred Manson of Lena, Illinois; and a brother and his wife, Hubert and Nellie Straks of Sheldon.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn.
