Theodore “Ted” Kuiper, 81, of Apache Junction, Arizona, formerly of Rock Valley, died Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at his winter home in Arizona.

Funeral services was Monday at the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Reverend Jeff Swanson officiating. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley, Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of the arrangements.

Theodore Kuiper was born January 31, 1920 in Springfield, South Dakota to Ralph and Tillie (Wynia) Kuiper. He married Florence M. Wynia on June 17, 1944 at Springfield. He farmed and ran a feed grinding service in Springfield until 1955 when they moved to Rock Valley. He started the Kuiper and Kuiper Milling Service with his father. He sold his grinder service in the mid 1970s and went to work at Kooima Manufacturing in Rock Valley, retiring when he was 71 years old. Mrs. Kuiper died on July 28, 1994.

Surviving relatives include his daughter, Pamela Diesing, Minneapolis, Minnesota; two sons, Barry and his wife, Jeanene of Hawarden, and Brad of Des Moines; a sister, Gladys Shortenhaus of Albert Lea, Minnesota; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; and his special friend of the past four years, Deanna Jenkins of Maple Plains, Minnesota.
