The death of Cornie Langstraat, at Sheldon, came as a shock to his family and friends. He passed away Sunday at 3:00 p.m., in the Methodist Hospital at Sioux City, where he recently underwent a major surgery. He had been ill three weeks.

Mrs. Langstraat was born at Newkirk, Iowa, on October 27, 1902, and passed away on January 19, 1941 at the age of 38 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius and Angelina (Rozeboom) Langstraat.

On February 4, 1925, he was married to Miss Edna Stientjes at Boyden. For three years, he owned and operated the Newkirk store, and after selling it, moved to Sheldon, where for three years he was an employee of the Brower Baking company. In 1931 he started the Langstraat Auto Market.

Mr. Langstraat was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sheldon, and funeral services were held there, Wednesday, at 12:30 o'clock, following a short service at the Langstraat home on South Third Avenue. Reverend Jean A. Vis was the officiating minister. Burial was made at Newkirk.

He leaves to mourn,His wife Edna; also two children, C. Thelma, 14 and Leona 6; 2 brothers, William and Henry; 4 sisters Mrs. Ann Boone of Newkirk; Minnie, Mrs. Gerrit Slothouber of Boyden; Ally, Mrs. John Dekkings of Matlock and Gertie, Mrs. Jake Varda Hoef from Newkirk; His step-father, L.M. Donal of Pella; Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Stientjes of Sheldon besides a host of other relatives and friends.
