Mrs. Jantje “Jennie” (Dykstra) Landhuis passed away Thursday of last week at her home in Hospers, after a lingering illness. The end was not unexpected. She had the eightieth birthday anniversary. Jantje (Stroobs) Dykstra was married to Bertus Landhuis on August 29, 1884. A little over three months ago Bertus Landhuis, her husband, preceded her from this world.

Mrs. Landhuis leaves three children and seven step-children to mourn her departure. The children are Gerrit Dykstra of Elkton, South Dakota, Meindert Dykstra, who resides in the Netherlands and Mrs. Case Kooyman of Draper, South Dakota. The step-children are: John, J.B. and J.H. Landhuis of Hospers, Mrs. John Rensink and Bert Landhuis of Boyden, C. Landhuis and Mrs. Johanna Hospers of Vriezenveen, Netherlands.

For over twenty-five years a resident of Hospers and vicinity, Mrs. Landhuis is mourned by a large circle of friends in and outside of the confines of the town.

The funeral was held Tuesday from the First Reformed Church. Reverend D. Douwstra conducted the funeral service.
