Mr. Jan David “John” Langhout was born the third of May, 1842, in the Netherlands and was therefore nearly 78 years old.

He came to this country 32 years ago and had spent all of this time in Iowa. He died Saturday morning, November 1, 1919.

He is survived by his wife, Aaltje, and seven children, namely: David Langhout of Norwood, Ohio; Mrs. H. Sturrmans of Alvord, Iowa; Mrs. Sam Droogsma, of Pease, Minnesota; Mrs. W.D. Wilson of Hartley, Iowa; Andrew Langhout of Le Mars, Iowa; Alma Langhout of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Mrs. Albert Rose of Ocheyedan, Iowa. All were present at the funeral, except David who was unable to come.

The funeral was conducted by Reverend Weersing, services being held at the house and at the Christian Reformed Church, Tuesday afternoon, November 4th.
