Passes Beyond aftet three years of patient suffering Active in Church In spite of all the loving hands and hearts could do and in spite of the advice and the most famous physicians of the country Mrs. Margaret Hoxmeier passed beyond Monday. September 5th, at 7 a.m. The event cast a gloom over the community which will not soon lift from the hears of those who kenw her.

Mrs. Hoxmeier was born at St. Donatus Iowa on February 28, 1869 and moved with her parents to Gilbertville in 1881. She was married there on Nov 21, 1888 to Mike Hoxmeier and they came the next year to Alton where ehy farmed for a year. Mr. Hoxmeier then went into partnership with Tony Goebel in the clothing business. Two children were born to them, Joseph died in infancy. She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Amos? F. Klein of Howard SD.

Their happiness was brought to an untimely end on January 3, 1898 by the death of Mr. Hoxmeier. Her mother Mrs. Mathias Even, died the same year, her father passed in 1913. After Christmas of 1918, Mrs. Hoxmeier contracted the flu brought on by an overzealousness in Red Cross work in which she had been very active during the war and in other work connected with the church and home, and she never recovered for this illness. She went to Texas for treatment in the winter of 1920 and then tried sanitariums in Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis but derived no benefit, returning April 23 last, to Alton where she was cared for with every comfort at the home of her sister Mrs. Martin until the end came.
