George Lamb of Onawa, a former resident of Hawarden and vicinity for many years, passed away at his home last Friday following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held at the Barnard Funeral Home at Onawa at 10 o'clock Monday morning with Reverend Wayne Stauffer of the First Methodist Church of that city, in charge. The remains were brought overland by William Barnard and services were held at the Methodist Church here at 2:30 with Reverend Stauffer in charge. Mrs. Clarence Anderson sang two solos. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

George Lamb, son of Joseph and Nancy (Babcock) Lamb, was born at Boscobel, Wisconsin, October 29, 1865, and passed away June 16, 1939, having attained the age of 73 years, 7 months and 17 days. His mother passed away when he as 9 years of age leaving a family of nine children. At the age of 15 he came to LeMars with friends and later he came to Hawarden and lived in this vicinity for many years. He was united in marriage with Bertha Brooks September 26, 1894, and to this union five children were born, two sons and three daughters. The two sons passed away in infancy and a nephew whom they raised passed away at the Great Lakes Naval Training Camp in 1918 at the age of 20 years. The children who with the mother are left to mourn his passing are Mrs. Cecile Irene Bonney, Richvale, California, and Mrs. Hazel Leila Rose and Mrs. Lola Lucile Lueninghoerner of Onawa. There are also four grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Lamb lived on a farm northeast of Hawarden of many years and later they moved to Hawarden, residing in the east part of the city. Several years ago they moved to Onawa to be with their daughters. Mr. Lamb together with his wife united with the Methodist Church in Hawarden in 1901 and during his residence here was a faithful attendant. He was a kind and indulgent husband and father and a kind neighbor.

Mrs. Lamb, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rose and son and Mrs. and Mrs. Lueninghoener accompanied the remains here.
