From the Alton Democrat, August 12, 1927, Boyden news:

A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Roelofs Jr., Saturday afternoon, but lived only a short time. The mother is doing well according to last reports. The sympathy of many friends is extended to them in their disappointment.

From the Boyden Reporter, August 11, 1927:

Mr. and Mrs. John Rohlfs, jr., mourn the loss of their baby boy which was born Saturday. The child lived only a little while. We extend our sympathy.
