Otto Van Roekel Otto Van Roekel, age 85, of Orange City, Iowa died on the morning of November 8, 1976, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital after a lengthy illness. Otto, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Guert Van Roekel, was born November 3, 1891 in Sioux Center, Iowa. He married Johanna Brinks January 13, 1915. She passed away in 1918. Otto married Grace Pals on February 6, 1920. The Van Roekels farmed in the Orange City area moving to town in 1970. Otto was also preceded in death by an infant son, Wilbur James who passed away in 1936.

The survivors include the widow; four sons, Dr. Otto Van Roekel Jr. of Aledo, Illinois; George and Rodney Van Roekel both of Orange City, and Dr. Glen Van Roekel of Le Mars, Iowa; two daughters Mrs. John (Gladys) Mitchell of Edina, Minnesota, and Mrs. Joseph (Maria) Mooibroek of Cottage Grove. Minnesota; a sister, Mrs. Christina Kuyper of Holstein, Iowa; a brother. Dr. Henry Van Roekel of Pella, Iowa, and 11 grandchildren.
