Mrs. Sophia Moret Kuyper passed away last Thursday morning at about five o’clock at the home of her son William Moret in Boyden. The cause for her death was due to her old age. About six weeks ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis and from then until her death she was considered in serious condition.

The funeral was held Saturday at 12:30 o’clock at the house and 1:00 o’clock at the Reformed Church, Reverend Van Lummel officiating. She died at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 28 days. Her funeral was held on her 86th birthday. Interment was made in the Orange City Cemetery beside her husband.

Sophia Moret Kuyper was born in The Netherlands in the year 1931, she came to this country with her parents in 1847 and settled at Pella, Iowa, where she married the following year to Mr. L. Moret; to this union seven children were born, of these only two are left to mourn her death, Mr. John Moret of Chandler, Minnesota and William Moret of Boyden.

Her first husband died in 1902 and two years later she was married to Arie Kuyper, who also preceded her in death in 1905. She was a loving and kind mother, and one of Christian character, and at the time of her death she was a member of the Dutch Reformed Church. To her the struggle and burden bearing of earth are ended, and we confidently trust that like one who awakes from a troubled dream she was awakened to see life’s endless morning break and knows herself at home with all the vast throng of loved ones missing from earth, safely about her. She was a devoted mother and a true friend.
