Mrs. Jennie Kuyper, age 90, of Newkirk, passed away Friday, February 13, at the Pleasant Acres Home in Hull.

Jennie Marie was the daughter of Martin Vander Velde and Mary Vos Vander Velde. She was born June 21, 1890, in rural Hospers. On January 27, 1909 she married Arie Kuyper at Newkirk. He passed away December 21, 1964.

Mrs. Kuyper became a resident of the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon in 1975 and transferred to Pleasant Acres in 1979.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. William (Carol) Van De Hoef, of Sheldon; granddaughter, Jean; six sisters, Mrs. Nelson (Myrtle) Newendorp, of Le Mars; Mrs. Christine McCann of Houston, Texas; Mrs. Charles (Sarah) Lawrence of Sioux Falls; Mrs. Mitchell (Walzy) Trout, Mrs. Walter (Minnie) Fredrick and Mrs. Ray (Louise) Wright; and a brother, William Vander Velde, all of Emmetsburg.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by grandson, Arian; two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 16, at the Newkirk Reformed Church. The Reverend Clarence Van Heukelom officiated. Interment followed at the Newkirk Cemetery, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
