Mrs. Imo Mulder, age 92, of Orange City, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, February 1, at 10:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The Rev. Wick Hubers will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice. Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Wednesday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Imo Laverne was born on May 5, 1925, on a farm in Sherman Township, Sioux County the only child of G. Raymond and Gertie (Brink) De Jong. She attended the one-room school in Sherman No. 1 and No. 6 and graduated from the Maurice High School in 1942.

On January 14, 1949, she married William Mulder in the Maurice Reformed Church. This was the same church in which she was baptized and had made profession of faith. Bill built a small tenant house on the yard of her parents, where they lived until February of 1951, when they moved to a farm two and a half miles east of Maurice. In 1992, they built a house in Orange City, where they retired.

In December of 2013, Imo moved to the Prairie Ridge Care Center, where she lived until her death.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, “Bill”; a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Chuck Skerry, of Tujunga, California; two sons and their wives, Leslie and Suzanne Mulder, of Orange City; and Donn and Betty Mulder, of Fremont, California; four grandchildren, Raegen, and her husband, Adam Blom, of Alton; Renae, and her husband Joseph Carrillo, of Cedar Falls; Michael Mulder, of San Jose, California; and Jennifer Mulder, of San Francisco, California; five great-grandchildren, Tristan, Tyson, and Jabrel Blom; and Dominick and Damian Carrillo; and three step-great-grandchildren, Bella, Bennett and Jaelyn Carrillo.

Memorials may be directed to the Grandview Cottage at the Prairie Ridge Care Center.
