Josie Kuyper, 98, of Boyden died Wednesday, June 30, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

Services were at 1 P.M. Saturday, July 3, at First Reformed Church in Boyden with Reverend Mark Volkers officiating. Burial was in Sheridan Township Cemetery near Boyden.

The former Josie Van Sloten was born November 6, 1894, in Hull, the daughter of William and Jacoba (Vander Pol) Van Sloten. She was raised at Hull. She married Joe W. Kuyper at Hull on March 8, 1916. The couple farmed at Boyden and later moved into town. He died September 11, 1941. She became a resident of the care center in August 1985. She was the oldest member of First Reformed Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Harold and Marjorie Kuyper of Sacramento, California; a daughter and her husband, Shirley and Raymond Rohlfs of Boyden; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Chester and Raymond in infancy, and Robert; a daughter, Esther Gordon; four sisters; and three brothers
