Funeral services for Miss Helena Kurtenacker who passed away early Tuesday morning in the Orange City Hospital where she was apparently recovering from a broken hip suffered in a fall in her home at Alton some months ago, will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton Saturday morning at 10:30 A.M. A heart attack apparently caused her sudden death.

Rosary was recited at St. Mary’s Parish Center on Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock and in the evening after Mass.

Her sister, Mrs. N.J. Krier of Exersior, Minnesota, who was vacationing in Florida, is enroute home after receiving news of her death.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Staebell of Hamboldt, South Dakota were notified of Miss Kurtenacker’s death Tuesday morning and came to make the funeral arrangements. Mrs. Staebell was a niece of the deceased, daughter of the late Frank Even, Mrs. Art Braun was a second cousin.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret, long-time organist at St. Mary’s Church, and by her brother, Joseph, a Navy Veteran of World War I.

Miss Kurtenacker’s father, William, was an early businessman in Alton, one of the owners of Kurtenacker & Pins Furniture and undertaking, owning the building now occupied by the Arc Club and the Foreman Bike Shop.

She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Parish during her lifetime.
