Martin M. Kooistra, 95, of Hull, died Monday, July 6, 1992 at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.

A prayer service was held at 9:45 A.M. Thursday at Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home in Hull. A graveside services was held at 10:00 A.M. and a services was at 10:30 at the First Reformed Church in Hull.Timothy Moermond and the Reverend Dr. Chester Droog officiated.

Mr. Kooistra was born March 7, 1897 in Alton, the son of Martin and Anna (Jellema) Kooistra. He was raised in Sioux County. He lived in various parts of the United States, employed as a road construction supervisor most of that time. On January 16, 1950 he married Fay Thompson Vande Stouwe at Omaha. The couple made their home in Hull. Mr. Kooistra was a member of the First Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wallace and his wife Cindy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Wendell of Grinnell; three stepsons and their wives, Harry, Bert and Esther Vande Stouwe of Hull, Dwayne and Fayma Vande Stouwe of Fort Dodge and Ned and Jane Vande Stouwe of Grinnell; a stepdaughter and her husband, Nancy and Stan Lammers of Sioux Center; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Cynthia Oostenink of Rock Valley; and a brother, Reverend Eibert Kooistra of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by a grandson; two brothers, John and Simon; and three sisters, Etta Neikirk, Effie DeBoer and Nellie Duyn.
