LAST RITES SATURDAY FOR MRS. MINNIE KOOISTRA

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilhelmina “Minnie” Kooistra, 65, were held here on Saturday, May 7, in the home and at the Christian Reformed Church, with Dr. H. Kuiper officiating. Burial was made in Valley View Cemetery. She died at her home May 5.

Mrs. Kooistra was born Minnie Van Heukelom on February 17, 1884 at Harrison, South Dakota. She came to Iowa in 1894 with her parents. On March 12, 1904 she was united in marriage to John M. Kooistra of Rock Valley.

The Kooistras made their home in this area for all except a 10 years period which time they farmed near Hancock, Minnesota. They retired from farming in 1937 and moved to the town of Rock Valley.

Survivors include the widower, five sons, four daughters, 33 grandchildren, one great-grandchildren and a brother, Ed of Hancock, Minnesota. The children are as follows: John, Gerrit and Anna (Mrs. Charles Kooima), of Rock Valley; Martin and Elmer of Hawarden; Lena (Mrs. Dick De Ruyter) of Hills, Minnesota, Henrietta (Mrs. Tom Mulder) of Doon and Sam and Nellie (Mrs. Richard Voortman) of Inwood.
