John Kooistra, 68, of Rock Valley, Iowa passed away November 3, 1976 at the Rock Valley Hospital of a lingering illness.

Services were held at 1:30 Saturday, November 6 at the First Christian Reformed Church. The Reverend Paul Bakker officiated; burial was at Valley View Cemetery, Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

John Kooistra was born May 28, 1908, in Rock Valley, Iowa to John and Wilhemina (Van Heukelom) Kooistra. He was married February 6, 1928 at Canton, South Dakota to Fannie Kempema. He was a World War II veteran. For 21 years he was the owner of the Rock Valley Advertiser.

Survivors include the widow, four sons, John M. of Jenison, Michigan, Ken of Sioux Center, Orville and Erwin of Rock Valley; one daughter, Mrs. John (Mary) Van Zanten; 19 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Four brothers and three sisters.
