The funeral services for Mr. Tim Kooima were held Tuesday, September 29, in the First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend S. Camminga officiating. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley with Vander Ploeg's Funeral Service in charge.

Mr. Tim Kooima passed away at his home after a lingering illness on September 26, 1959 at 1:30 p.m. at the age of 77 years, and 10 months.

He was born in Sint-Annen, Netherlands on November 20, 1881 and at the age of 10 years he came to this country with his parents, Mr and Mrs. Simon and Tena (Dykema) Kooima. They made their home in this vicinity.

On March, 19, 1908 he was united in marriage to Gertie Groeneweg and to this union nine children were born. They farmed until January of 1946 when they retired and moved into Rock Valley. Of late years he retired from positions as president of the Farmers Lumber Company and a member of the Board of the Farmers Elevator Company, the Rock Valley Creamery Company and the Protestant Reformed Church because of ill health.

Survivors of the deceased are the widow and the following children: Sam T. of Hull, Tracy, (Mrs. Albert Harmsen) of Artesia, California; Paul of Doon, Ed of Rock Valley, Art of Inwood, Gertrude (Mrs. Henry Rozeboom) and Lois (Mrs. Ted Ribbens) both of Rock Valley; also 26 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Adriana and one son, Lawrence, and all of his seven brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Lawrence, in the Air Corps, was killed on a bombing mission in the European Theatre.

Arrived in New York on 11 Mar 1892 sailing from Rotterdam, Netherlands via Bouglogne Sur Mer, France on ship Werkendam.
