ALTON GIRL KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENT NEAR LE MARS EARLY SUNDAY

The Alton Community was shocked and saddened by the accidental death early Sunday of Marilyn Mae Konz, 21 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard and Esther (Arens) Konz, living east of Alton. She was involved in a one car accident east of Le Mars, a passenger in a car driven by Jack Harriman of Minneapolis, formerly of Alton.

Traveling west on highway 3 two miles east of Le Mars, the car struck a guard rail which ripped the door from the passenger side. Marilyn was thrown from the car and had expired when the ambulance arrived at the Le Mars Hospital. The Luken ambulance was called at 2:05 A.M.

Jack received minor bruises and was not hospitalized. Patrolman Larry Colglazier investigated the accident.

Marilyn was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Konz and was born August 23, 1942, at Alton. She was a student in home economics at Briar Cliff College, Sioux City.

Survivors are her parents, two brothers, Gary and Anthony, and a sister Debbie, at home; and grandfather, Matt Konz of Alton.

Funeral services were at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton Tuesday, December 31, with burial in the parish cemetery.

Many sorrowing relatives and friends joined the family and friends here for the rites.
