Funeral Services for
Lubert R. Kooiker Monday

Funeral services for Mr. Lubert R. Kooiker, 75, life-long resident of the Hull vicinity, were held Monday, November 8, at the First Reformed Church of Hull, with the Reverend N. Rozeboom of Holland, Michigan, assisted by Reverend William G. De Jong of Rock Rapids and Reverend Harold C. Ringenoldus, officiating. Interment was a Hope Cemetery.

The esteem with which Mr. Kooiker was held by all in the community was attested by the fact that the church was filled to overflowing for the service.

Pallbearers were: Ralph L. Kooiker, Lawrence Noomen, Willis Oostenbrug, Harold Wissink, John De Wild and Lawrence De Wild.

Honorary pallbearers were: John Boote, Jim Bosman, Albert Brunsting, Wm. Claerbout, John Humme, Marinus Intveld, Ed Sneller, John Van Wyk and Henry Wesselink.

Special music for the service was provided by the Boote Quartet.

Obituary

Mr. Lubert R. Kooiker was born November 20, 1889, in Perkins, Iowa. He went to his eternal home on Thursday morning, November 4, 1965. He was at home at the time of his death.

Mr. Kooiker lived in this area all of his life. On March 13, 1913, he was united in marriage to Pearl De Wild, by the Reverend A. W. De Jonge.

In recent years Mr. Kooiker was associated in the automobile business. Prior to this he was the proprietor of a blacksmith and implement shop in Hull. He was also active in community work, having served on the Town Council and the local school board for many years. As a member of the First Reformed Church of Hull, Mr. Kooiker served many years on the Consistory, both as Elder and Deacon, and was also a Sunday School Teacher for many years.

The clear thinking and sound judgment of Mr. Kooiker was also called upon outside of this community. He served on boards of the World Home Bible League, Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan; Pine Rest Christian Psychopathic Association in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.

Mr. Kooiker leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Pearl; three children, Albertha, Mrs. Henry Ver Meer, of Denver, Colorado; Arthur B. Kooiker of Rock Rapids, Iowa; and Dr. Anthony Kooiker of Holland, Michigan; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother Lambert of Hull; a sister, Mrs. Wynard Noomen of Sibley; and a brother Albert Horlings of Tuscon, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Mrs. Gerrit Oostenbrug and two brothers, John and Barry Horlings. A host of other relatives and friends also mourn his departure.
