Rena Brands, age 85 of El Paso TX. passed away March 12, 2017 in El Paso.

Rena was born on Feb. 10, 1932, in Rock Valley, IA. the daughter of Gerrit and Bertha (Van Zanten) Brands. She graduated from Rock Valley Christian Grade School in 1945 and Rock Valley Public School in 1949. Rena received her RN Degree from Peoria Illinois and went on to get her doctorate degree at El Paso University in El Paso, TX.

Survivors include her brother, Cornie Brands, and his wife Barbara, of Rock Valley, sisters, Hubertha Statemea of Ireton, Iowa and Joey Westra and her husband Don of Hull, IA.

Rena was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gerrit Jr. and brother-in-law, Pete Statema.
