Mrs. Jacob "Jake" Koele, nee Minnie Faas, was born on February 28, 1881, at Middleburg, Iowa. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douwe Faas, both of whom preceded her in death, as did eight brothers and sisters, one daughter, 3 years of age, and two grandchildren.

On February 2, 1909, Wilhelmina Faas was married to Mr. Jake Koele at Hull, Iowa, the Reverend A. W. De Jonge performing the ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. De Vries.

The first two years, after their marriage, they lived in Hull and then moved to a farm south-east of Hull. After four years at this place they moved to a farm in the vicinity of Sandborn, Iowa, where they lived for three years. Leaving there, they moved to a farm near George, Iowa, which was their home for twenty-five years, after which they moved to a farm four miles east of Hull, living there for seven years and then moving to their residence in Hull in the Fall of 1948.

To this union seven children were born, including five sons and two daughters, one daughter preceding Mrs. Koele in death. The living children are Henry of Sharon, Wisconsin; Dewey and Edward of Hull; John of Sanborn; Bessie - now, Mrs. Gerald Brunsting - and Ben also of Hull.

She passed away very quietly on Friday, August 19, 1949, after an illness of several months, at the age of 63 years, 8 months and 19 days.

She is survived by her husband, six children, eight grandchildren and two brothers, Ben Faas of Hospers and Will Faas of Sandborn.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday Aug 23, 1949, at 1:00 p.m. at the Dewey Koele home and at 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church of Hull, the Reverend William C. De Jong officiating. Interment was at Hope Cemetery near Hull.
