The funeral of Mrs. Nic Haupert who died of consumption at LeMars at Saturday morning took place here Tuesday morning at St. Joseph's catholic cemetery. Her husband Nic Haupert is at present on a trip through Germany.

Nic Haupert of LeMars who is well known here and intended to move to Alton and build this summer started for Europe about two weeks ago and had just about arrived there when his wife suddenly died at LeMars, The Sentinel says: Mrs, Nic Haupert died at her home on Pulton street in this city Friday night at eleven o'clock from dropsy and other complications.

The deceased who was about fifty-five years of age had been in poor health for some time but her
death was unexpected, The remains were taken to the Haupert homestead in Sioux county Sunday and the funeral was held at Granville Tuesday,

Note: Family information on ancestry.com lists Nicholas Haupert born Jan 23, 1840 Kellen Luxemburg died Jun 9, 1908 Sioux County IA. His wife was Margaret Diederich Majenis 1838-1902. They had two children Mary and Maria. Nicholas may have been married before to Margaretha Krantz 1843-1882 having children Maria, Mathias, Nicholas and Ana.
