JOHN VAN BERKUM
Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church In Rock Valley June 5 for John Van Berkum, 92, of Rock Valley, who died at the Rock Rapids Hospital June 1. Services were conducted by the Rev. Ralph G. Ten Clay and burial was made In Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley.

Mr. van Berkum was born August 4, 1879, in The Netherlands and came to the U. S. as a child. He farmed near Sioux Center. Lester and Springfield, S. D., before retiring In 1947 and moving to Rock Valley. He married Anna Van Wyhe February 28, 1905; at Sioux Center. She died in 1955.

Survivors include seven sons. James, Lawrence, and Raymond, all of Rock Valley; Alvin of Orange City; Edwin of Sioux Falls; Garold of Sioux Center; and Wallace of Lurverne, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Wilbert (Alice) Prins of Orange City. 25 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
