ALBERT PROBST, FORMER ALTON RESIDENT ---DIES AT SIOUX CITY, BURIAL AT ALTON

Albert Probst, 71, of South Sioux City, a native of Alton, died Thursday, December 26, 1957 at a Sioux City Hospital after a few weeks illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Alton. Pallbearers were Milo Probst, Kenneth Probst, Albert Kettler, Melvin Kettler, Don Schneider and John Kettler.

Mr. Probst was born October 20, 1886, at Alton. He went to Homer, Nebraska, in 1915 and operated a hardware store there until 1944, when he moved to Sioux City. He moved to South Sioux City three and half years ago.

He married Bertha Kettler on May 2, 1911, at Alton. She died January 20, 1922, at Homer. On July 27, 1930, he married Margaret Kettler at Winnebago, Nebraska.

Mr. Probst was a member of St. Michael’s Church in South Sioux City and of that church’s Holy Name Society.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Orville of South Sioux City; a brother, Otto, of Alton; a sister, Mrs. Kate Haberman of Fuda, Minnesota, and four grandchildren.
