From the Rock Valley Bee, February 26, 1926:

FORMER ROCK VALLEY RESIDENT DEAD

Mrs. Frank Richmond, a former resident of this community, died of pneumonia at her home near Deepwater, Mo., on Tuesday of last week, following an illness of about three weeks. Mrs. Richmond had not been in the best of health for several years, and by reason of her weakness had not the strength to combat the ravages of the disease that caused her death.

Hattie Belle Hurst was born on December 17, 1866, near Corning, Mo., and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Hall, Feb. 9, 1926, at the age of 59 years 1 month and 23 days. She was united in marriage to Frank Richmond, Feb. 26, 1888. To this union five children were born, the eldest Mrs. Roy Hall, of Deepwater, Mo., Chas. E. of Hawarden, Ia., Wm. E. of Deepwater, Mo., Frank Thomas, age one year and six months, and Asa Ray, age 7 years 6 months, having preceded her in death. In 1887 she was converted and baptized by Rev. W. W. Hallam, pastor of the Christian church at Westborn, Mo.

Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her loss, an aged father, 6 brothers and 5 sisters, and 7 grandchildren. She resided near Ireton two years and in Rock Valley five years. Three years ago she left with her husband for her native state, Missouri, that she might be near her children who reside there, -- Ireton Ledger.

Death of Former Resident

Chas. E. Richmond returned a week ago Sunday from Deepwater, Mo., where he had been called by the illness and subsequent death of his mother, Mrs. Frank Richmond. Mrs. Richmond passed away at her home Feb. 9th following an illness of about three weeks from pneumonia. She had not been in the best of health for a number of years and so she was not able to fight the ravages of the disease.

Hattie Belle Hurst was born near Corning, Mo., Dec. 17, 1866, and so was some past 59 years of age at the time of her death. She was united in marriage with Frank Richmond Feb. 26, 1888. This union was blessed with five children, two of whom preceded her in death. She came to Eagle township about seven years ago. About three years ago she and her husband moved to Deepwater, Mo., so that she might be near her children who reside there. Besides her husband she is survived by three children, Chas. E. of Hawarden and Mrs. Roy Hall and Wm. E. of Deepwater, Mo.
