Funeral services were held Friday May 18, 1962 for Peter Arie Van Zee at 1:00 p.m. at the home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Boyden First Reformed church, with Rev. H. G. Schoon in charge. Arrangements were made by the Cooperative Funeral Home of Sioux Center, with burial in the Boyden Cemetery.

Pallbearers were six nephews, Richard C. Van Zee, Tony J. Van Zee, Andrew Moret, Richard 3D. Van Zee, Vernon Reinicke and Andrew Groen. Songs were sung by a men's quartet composed of John R. Vermeer, Harold De Boer, Vernon Van Ommeren and Bob Den Hartog, who sang "I Found a Friend" and "God's Way is the Best Way."

Mr. Van Zee, son of the late Henry and Artie Van Zee, was born on a farm east of Middleburg on July 19, 1893. He lived in Sioux County all his life and grew to manhood near Middleburg. On January 6, 1916, he was united in marriage to Effie Vander Aarde at Sanborn, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived on a farm near 'Boyden until 1925, when they retired and moved into town. For the past several years he was employed by Sioux County, being a foreman part of this time.

To this union two daughters were born, one of whom preceded him in death: Geneva, at the age of 18 years. The other daughter, Artie, .Mrs. Abe H. Van Roekel, her husband and 3 children mourn his passing, along with the widow. Two sisters, Mrs. John Hoffs of Hospers, Mrs. Ed Borgman of Sibley; two brothers, John of Sanborn and Tony of Hospers, besides a host of other relatives and friends also mourn his passing. Mr. Van Zee passed away following a lingering illness due to a heart condition, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City on Tuesday, May 15, 1962, at the age of 68 years, nine months and 29 days. He was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church of Boyden and showed an interest in his many friends and the community and will be greatly missed.
