Evan Jay Van Regenmorter, 46 passed away on October 29, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada after a brief battle with Cancer.

He was born November 16, 1970 in Sioux City, Iowa to Richard and Phyllis (Bolkema) Van Regenmorter. Evan grew up in Sioux Center, Iowa where he graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1989.

During his senior year of high school, he joined the Army National Guard Reserves, and then attended the University of Nebraska in Omaha, NE. Evan then went on to enlist is the US Marine Corps in 1990.

After his service in the Marines Evan moved to New York City to which he called home for nearly 20 years. It was there he met the love of his life, Shimrit Gafla. They were united in Marriage on April 29, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV.

Evan continued his education at Hunter College in New York City and graduated with honors, earning a B.A. degree in History in 2011. He then attended Catholic University of America-Columbus School of Law in Washington DC where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree in May 2014. Evan passed the New York Bar exam on his first try in July 2014 which was one of his proudest accomplishments. He then went to work as a Bronx Assistant District Attorney in New York City.

In 2016 Evan and Shimrit moved to Sydney, Australia. Over the years Evan was full of adventure and traveled the world, making wonderful friends to which he held close to his heart.

Evan leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Shimrit of Sydney, Australia: Mother, Phyllis Van Regenmorter of Sioux Center, IA; Siblings, Merlyn (Heide) Van Regenmorter of Carmichael, CA, Bob (Suzy) Van Regenmorter of Sioux Falls,SD, Donna (Ron) Grenko of Elizabethtown, PA, Sue Van Regenmorter of Omaha, NE; Father and Mother-in-law, Menashke and Tami Gafla of Rehovot, Israel; Sister-in-law Sharon (Asaf) Gafla-Lugasi and Brother-in-laws, Ran (Andrea) Gafla, Haim Gafla, all of Israel. He also leaves behind his cherished nephews and nieces and many friends which he called his family.

Evan was preceded in death by his father, Richard Van Regenmorter of Sioux Center, IA.
