RITES HERE SATURDAY FOR MRS. MARY KILBURG, EARLY ALTON RESIDENT

Mrs. Mary Kilburg, early Alton resident, died at her home in Washington, D.C. Tuesday, December 7 at five o’clock P.M.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Mary Puetz was born November 6, 1863 at Spring Brook, Iowa. She was joined in holy wedlock to Peter Kilburg of Spring Brook, Iowa, November 24, 1885. To this union eight children were born.

Mrs. Kilburg was preceded in death by her son, Peter, who died September 29, 1918, her daughter Margaret Kilburg Hansen, who died April 12, 1924, and her husband, Peter Kilburg who died May 9, 1926. One child died in infancy. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Kilburg assisted her sister, Tillie Puetz of North Washington, Iowa in nursing her mother Margaret Puetz. Mrs. Puetz passed away October 7, 1934, and there upon Mrs. Kilburg located in Washington, D.C., where she made her home with her daughter, Carrie, and by her kindness, congeniality and other admirable qualities won a large circle of friends. The deceased was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Mary’s of Alton and a devout member of St. Gabriel’s of Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Kilburg was a quiet, home loving woman and a devoted mother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 in St. Mary’s Church at Alton, where the deceased’s grandson, Reverend Karl P. Hansen of Danbury, Iowa, sang a Solemn Requiem Mass in the presence of many relatives and friends. He was assisted by Msg. Reverend Thoenissen of Hospers, Iowa. The Reverend James Fandel of Alton was master of ceremonies. She was interment in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Kilburg is survived by five children, namely, Mrs. John Hansen of Alton; Miss Carrie and Arthur Kilburg, Washington, D.C., Mrs. James M. Larkin, Washington, D.C.; and Sister Mary Georgia, O.S.F. of Dubuque and all were present at the funeral of their beloved mother.

She is also survived by three sisters, Tillie Puetz of Dubuque, Iowa, Sister M. Phileta of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Sister M. Therista of St. Louis, Missouri. The deceased is also survived by several grandchildren, the Reverend Karl Hansen of Danbury, Iowa, Mildred and Albert Hansen of Alton, Iowa and Jean Marie and James Arthur Larkins and Mary Patricia Kilburg, all of Washington, D.C., and two great-grandchildren, James John and Mary Ann Hansen of Anton, Iowa.
