Peter J. Kilburg, one of our popular young men, died Sunday morning at the home of his parents, after an illness of six weeks. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s Church, where the deceased’s uncle, Reverend P.J. Puetz officiating during the Requiem Mass. All the members of the Kilburg family were present except sister Carrie, who had recently returned to Washington, D.C. after visiting him during his illness but found it impossible to return in time for the funeral. Mr. Kilburg is a member of the Knights of Columbus and Aloysius Society and the local members of these organizations attended the funeral in a body.

The deceased was born in Spring Brook, Iowa and was in his twentieth year. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and afterwards attended Dubuque College. He accepted the position of Bookkeeper at the Alton Savings Bank after completing a business course and this position he held with credit until he was compelled to give it up on account of his sickness. He was a model young man and possessed a modest disposition and was respected and admired by all who knew him. Both parents, five sisters and one brother survive him.

Many relatives and friends of the Kelburg family from out of town attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. John Puetz, Mr. and Mrs. Kilburg and daughter Mary, Mr. and Mrs. D. Kilburg and Mrs. Mary Scheckel, all of Spring Brook, Iowa. Nic Kilburg of Bellevue, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Nic Evans, Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Schreiner, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Mat Gackenberger and daughter, Irma, Mrs. John Schmidt and Mrs. Mary Schreiner, all of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; Peter Schmidt of Eastern, Wisconsin, Joe Kilburg of Le Mars; Reverend P.J. Puetz, Mrs. Margaret Puetz and Tillie Puetz, all of North Washington, Iowa.
