LAURA KELLEN RITES AT ALTON SATURDAY

Miss Laura Ann Kellen of Alton passed on at Woodward State Hospital, Thursday, April 24th and funeral services were held at Alton Saturday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with interment in the parish cemetery.

Born July 2nd, 1898 on the Kellen farm near Granville. Miss Kellen had reached the age of 59 years and some months. A life-long invalid, she had been a patient at Woodward for six years. When her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kellen, retired to a home in Alton she accompanied them, receiving their devoted care for many years. Her last critical illness was brief, the family here not having received notice of it until after her passing.

Surviving are two sisters and four brothers: Mrs. Nick Henrich of Alton; Mrs. Al Staab of Hadley, Minnesota; Otto Kellen of Waco, Texas; Henry Kellen of Sioux City; George Kellen of Alton and Edwin Kellen of Honolulu.

Reverend Zeno Reising officiated at the service Saturday morning and pallbearers were Victor Kellen, Leo Henrich, William Hansen, John Pottebaum, Albert Schnee and Harry Hansen.

Present from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bullerman, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Kellen and Joe Kellen of Adrian, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Al Staab of Handley; Mr. and Mrs. H.N. Kellen, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kellen and Kay Kellen of Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Will Staab, Mr. and Mrs. Will Kellen, Remsen; Mrs. Amos Klein, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kellen, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kaschmitter of Le Mars.
