From the Rock Valley Bee, November 20, 1925:

HEART FAILURE CAUSES DEATH

E. Bakker, who lived northeast of Rock Valley, near Doon, died very suddenly Saturday afternoon from heart failure. He was as well as usual shortly before his death and was working on his farm when he was suddenly stricken. His sons were working with him nearby, but he was past all earthly help when they came to where he had fallen.

Mr. Bakker was a man who was highly respected by all who knew him, and the bereaved family and other relatives have the sincere sympathy of the community in which he lived.

Funeral services were held in the Christian Reformed church in Rock Valley Wednesday afternoon.

From the Hawarden Independent, November 26, 1925:

Eilert Bakker of Doon dropped dead Nov. 14th while he was picking corn. His body was discovered by his two sons. He had been in his usual good health and had done his share of the corn picking this fall. The sons had gone to another part of the field to pick corn. Upon their return they missed their father and so instituted a search. Death was due to heart trouble.

The deceased was 58 years old and was born in Holland. He came to America in 1918. He is survived by his wife and ten children.
