Obituary of Linda Eiliene Gambrel Mrs. Ron Vander Linden. Although the Vander Lindens were not residents of Sioux County, the Vander Linden ancestors and related families were. Linda was an avid promoter and did a lot of volunteer work for the Gr. Sioux Co. Genealogical Society based in Sioux Center IA. She posted many obits to our web site, she donated many of her 3 ring binders of Sioux County research to our Genealogy Department.

Linda Eiliene Gambrel Vander Linden was born September 29, 1944 in Des Moines, IA to Leo Elmer Gambrel and Marguerite Ann Wintercorn. Linda was educated in the Des Moines Public School system where she graduated from North High school in 1962. After High school she entered the work force and began her career as a secretary.
In 1964 Linda married the love of her life, Ron Vander Linden. They loved and cared for each other for 52 years. Linda and Ron welcomed three children into their family, Jeffrey, Kirk and Joelle.

Linda had an interest in Genealogy. She loved the history that research would unlock for her. She loved big Family gatherings and could be counted on to make her famous lasagna. Linda like to experiment with recipes and her family weer the willing guinea pigs. She supported the kids through sports and extra curricular activities as the East High Booster Club secretary, and she was the ‘bonus Mom’ for her children’s friends. Linda was the instigator for all the birthday parties and loved to decorate around the various holidays, especially Easter. Later, she and Ron liked to travel and she particularly loved the Western United States. Easy going and calm, when things went a little crazy, you would hear her laugh and say ‘uffda’, while she got things back on track. Linda was the glue that held the family all together.

August 24, 2017, Linda peacefully stepped from time into eternity. She was 72 years old. Waiting to meet her on the other side were her parents Leo and Marguerite Gambrel.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 52 years, Ron; her children, Jeffrey (Cindy) Vander Linden of Omaha NE; Kirk (Joanna) Vander Linden of Omaha NE and Joell (Michael) Stark of West Des Moines, IA; her grandchildren Valerie and Derrick Vander Linden, Zoey and Runnar Stark, Samuel and Jack Vander Linden and Tyler, Kennedy and Keathen Gogswell along with extended family and friend.

Visitation was from 6-8 pm. On Wed. Aug 30, 2017. Graveside services were held following morning at 11 am at Highland Memory Garden Cemetery.
